Abstract

Sports events, competitions, and local and international tournaments are considered attractive venues for global companies looking to market and advertise their projects, due to the immense popularity of professional sports activities such as football, as well as the star power of certain famous players who encourage companies to invest large sums in marketing. This study addresses an important topic in the sports field, which is determining the legal nature of sponsorship contracts that sports clubs enter into to finance their activities. The study is divided into two sections: the first section clarifies the concept of sports sponsorship contracts and their characteristics that distinguish them from other contracts, while the second section examines the legal nature of sports sponsorship contracts by determining whether they can be classified as contracts related to benefit or contracts related to work. We have concluded in this study that the legal nature of sports sponsorship contracts is of a special nature, and they are subject to the provisions of sports law as well as other laws such as civil law and commercial law.
