Constitutional organization of Specialties under the ethnic federalism in Ethiopia

Abstract

This research paper aims to study and analyze one of the patterns and applications of federal systems, which depend mainly on the ethnographic dimension, or what is termed as ethnic federalism.in this regard the Ethiopian case was addressed,as it is one of the unique cases of it's kind on the african continent,by addressing the historical background about the adoption of the fedral system in it, and then mechanisms for distributing legal competencies between levels of government. The paper concluded that although ethnic federalism came to take into account the peculiarities of ethnic groups in Ethiopia, it was not spared from attempts of disintegration and separation, especially what the Tigray region is witnessing.
