Consumer Protection Law No. (1) of (2010): An Analytical Study

Abstract

After the Great Industrial Revolution arose، life developed، and industry took the primary place instead of agriculture، so goods and commodities that were not known before appeared، so the markets became full of many types of products presented to the consumer، who is considered the weakest link in the consumer process، so it was necessary to issue legislation to protect him.And Iraq was not immune from these developments، in light of the economic openness and Iraq's orientation from the socialist system towards the capitalist system and the free market policy.

 It is imperative for the legislator to issue a law that protects the consumer from manipulation and exploitation، so Law No. (1) of 2010 was issued to protect the consumer، but this law is still not applied to this day، in the year 2023، so we researched for the availability of legal protection for the Iraqi consumer in this law through this research، and the reason for not applying it.
