The Academic Elite Reliance on Social Media as a Source of Information during the Elections of Constitution's Reform on November 1st, 2020. Teachers of Ghardaia University as a case study.

Abstract

The present research aims at determining the extent to which the academic elite rely on social media as a source of information during the elections of Constitution's Reform, on November 1st, 2020.

The présent research is on of the descriptive research, in which the researcher uses the statistical approach through a field study on a sample of teachers at Ghardaia University. The researchers relied on a questionnaire as a tool of study to collect information, where 123 questionnaires were collected from a total of 150 distributed.

The research concluded that :

2- The research revealed that most participants use social media for 3 hours or more per day 34.95%. 43.63% of participants use social media in the afternoon and evening.

 3- 53.65% of the participants relied on social media as a source of information during the elections of Constitution's Reform, on November 1st, 2020.

4- 26.82% of participants asserted that they have achieved the goal of obtaining information up to date from social media, while 17.07% through their participation in different events of the society and around 13.82% of participants rely on following the implications and consequences of Constitution's Reform elections.

5- The present research revealed that  the major problem of social media information is the uncertainty of the source of information during the Constitution's Reform elections 2020. 36.96% of information from unknown sources, then 21.81% of published information without being confirmed. At the end, 11.51% represents the lack of public confidence about the information that spread on social media.
