The Algerian constitutional founder sought, through successive reforms in the field of monitoring the constitutionality of laws, to make the latter more effective to achieve the goal of its adoption, which is to maintain the supremacy of the constitution and protect public rights and freedoms.
The constitutional amendment of 2016 and what followed is considered a turning point in the field of constitutional oversight. In addition to allowing individuals access to the constitutional judiciary in order to protect their rights and freedoms by pleading unconstitutionality, it allowed a number of their representatives in Parliament to notify the Constitutional Court through parliamentary notification.
