Abstract

In the face of environmental degradation in the context of climate change across the world, a new category of displaced persons has emerged, which is growing in number as natural or human-induced disasters, affecting the environment at all levels, increase. This phenomenon needs to be urgently examined and regulated and to provide international protection to them as environmental refugees in the absence of any international document covering their protection. And if we think of the Geneva Convention of 1951 M, which he considers to be very weak even in protecting refugees in general, The aim of this study should be to highlight the concept of an environmental refugee as a controversial issue regarding the designation of such displaced persons for reasons of climate change on the one hand. and how to deal with and address international law for their protection now and accept the concept of "environmental refugee" internationally.
